**Short answer:** To share one chart of accounts across entities in Intuit Enterprise Suite, sign in to the parent company as the Primary Admin and go to Settings > Your company > Shared chart of accounts > Get started. Review how the accounts were mapped by account type and detail type, and unmap or remap any that are wrong. Select See balances, then Approve reviewed and Approve changes. Add accounts later with Add account and Share with companies.

## Before you start

- Your business runs more than one company in Intuit Enterprise Suite.
- You're the Primary Admin.
- You're signed in to the parent company. You can only consolidate, add or edit the shared chart of accounts there.
- Optional: select See a demo on the start page to see a mock-up with sample data before you build your own.

## Step 1: Start the shared chart of accounts

1. From the parent company dashboard, select Settings.
2. Go to Your company and select Shared chart of accounts.
3. Select Get started.
4. Review the Chart of accounts standardization page. It shows how accounts were mapped, organized by account type and detail type.

## Step 2: Review the account mapping

1. Select an account type, then a detail type, to expand the list of accounts.
2. To unmap an account, select More options, then Unmap account. It moves to the Unmapped accounts list for that account type.
3. To change where an account is mapped, select More options, then Map to different account. Pick an account from the list, or select New account. IES moves the account to the new detail type list.

| Option | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| Save draft | Saves your progress. It's in the dropdown next to Approve reviewed. |
| See balances | Shows how the mappings will affect each company's balances. Select Back to keep editing. |
| Approve all | Approves every account at once. |
| Approve reviewed | Approves the accounts you've reviewed. |

## Step 3: Check balances and approve

1. Select See balances to see how the mappings change company balances, then select Back.
2. When you've reviewed the accounts, select Approve reviewed.
3. In the Approve reviewed changes window, select Approve changes. To keep editing, select Keep reviewing.
4. Wait for the notification that the process is complete, then select View task to see the new consolidated chart of accounts.

## Step 4: Add a shared account

1. From the parent company dashboard, select Settings.
2. Go to Your company and select Shared chart of accounts.
3. Select Add account.
4. Enter the name, account type, detail type, account number and description.
5. Select Share with companies and choose each company that should use it.
6. Select Save.

## Step 5: Edit an account or change which companies use it

1. On the Shared chart of accounts page, select Edit on the account's line.
2. Make your changes in the Edit shared account window.
3. To change which companies use the account, select Share with companies and add or remove companies.
4. Select Save. If you're removing the account from companies, select Yes, remove account in the Want to remove this account from these companies? window.

## Step 6: Turn sharing off

1. On the parent company's Shared chart of accounts page, select Settings.
2. Turn off the Enable chart of accounts switch.
3. In the Stop using shared chart of accounts? window, review the changes and select Yes, turn off.
4. To share again later, turn the Enable chart of accounts switch back on.

Intuit's articles set up intercompany account mapping and elimination accounts separately, under Multi-entity > Overview. See how to [allocate shared expenses across entities](https://logistify.ai/guides/intuit-enterprise-suite/allocate-intercompany-expenses/) and how to [eliminate intercompany balances and view consolidated financial statements](https://logistify.ai/guides/intuit-enterprise-suite/eliminations-consolidated-financial-statements/).

## If something doesn't look right

- You can't find Shared chart of accounts: sign in to the parent company as the Primary Admin. Other users can't set it up.
- An account landed in the wrong place: use More options > Map to different account, or Unmap account to move it to the Unmapped accounts list.
- You're not sure what a mapping will do to the books: select See balances before you approve.
- You need to stop partway through: select Save draft from the dropdown next to Approve reviewed.

## Where Intuit Enterprise Suite leaves the work to you

- Reviewing the mapping means expanding each account type, then each detail type, to check its accounts.
- Only the Primary Admin can do this, and only from the parent company.
- The article says you can stop sharing for a specific company, but its steps only turn off the Enable chart of accounts switch on the parent company's page. No step lets you choose a company.
- The article doesn't say what happens to past transactions when you unmap an account or turn sharing off.

## How Logistify helps

Logistify doesn't set up or map charts of accounts. Its [Sales Order Service](https://logistify.ai/agents/sales-order/) enters customer orders into Intuit Enterprise Suite as sales orders, with a person reviewing exceptions, and its [Accounts Receivable Service](https://logistify.ai/agents/accounts-receivable/) matches payments from your bank file to open IES invoices.
