QuickBooks Desktop guide·Updated October 18, 2026
When Does QuickBooks Desktop Support End? Dates for Each Version
- Applies to
- QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise, Premier Plus, Pro Plus and Mac Plus
- Steps checked against
- Intuit's QuickBooks Desktop help and policy pages, checked October 2026
Short answer
It depends on the version: 2022 lost support after May 31, 2025, and 2023 (Enterprise 23.0) after May 31, 2026. Intuit says Pro Plus, Premier Plus and Enterprise 2024 (24.0) have no sunset date and won't be discontinued in May 2027. After a version is discontinued, Intuit stops live support, payroll, payments, online banking and security updates for it. Press F2 in QuickBooks to see which version you run.
Support end dates by version
| Version | Support ends | After that date |
|---|---|---|
| QuickBooks Desktop 2022 (Pro Plus, Premier Plus, Accountant, Enterprise 22.0) | After May 31, 2025 | No live support, Intuit add-on services or updates. Intuit's 2022 license terms set this date. |
| QuickBooks Desktop 2023 (Pro Plus, Premier Plus, Mac Plus, Accountant, Enterprise Solutions 23.0) | After May 31, 2026 | Live support, payroll, payments, online banking, emailing from QuickBooks and security updates stop. |
| QuickBooks Desktop 2024 (Pro Plus, Premier Plus, Enterprise Solutions 24.0) | No end date announced | Intuit says it will keep 24.0 updated with support, security patches, tax law changes and new features. It asks you to accept its periodic in-product updates. |
| QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale | October 3, 2023 | Intuit no longer supports it. |
Intuit used to retire each Desktop version about three years after release. It has dropped that cycle. Intuit calls Desktop 2024 and Enterprise 24.0 its final annual platform releases. Instead of a new version each year, subscribers get updates inside QuickBooks through the year.
Intuit's no-sunset note names Pro Plus, Premier Plus and Enterprise Solutions. It doesn't mention QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2024, so Mac users should confirm their date with Intuit.
What stops when a version is discontinued
Intuit's policy for the 2023 versions lists what ended after May 31, 2026. Its stop-sell page says any unsupported version loses the same things: live support, add-on services such as payroll, payments and bank feeds, and security patches.
- Live technical support from Intuit.
- Desktop Payroll: paychecks no longer calculate taxes, payroll forms stop, and the subscription is deactivated. For Assisted Payroll, Intuit said it would file and pay second-quarter 2026 taxes, but not later 2026 returns or W-2s.
- Payments: card and check processing inside QuickBooks, pay links on emailed invoices, and merchant deposit downloads.
- Online banking: transaction downloads, online bill payments and online transfers.
- Emailing forms and reports from QuickBooks, the accountant copy transfer service, and using or turning on multi-currency.
- Critical security updates. Intuit warns this can expose your data to security risks.
Intuit says you can still create paychecks after the date, but it advises against it because taxes won't calculate. Subscriptions add one more risk. Intuit's license terms let it require a newer version to keep a subscription active. If a subscription lapses, you lose the license to use the software, though you keep your company file.

How to check your version
- 1Open QuickBooks Desktop and your company file.
- 2Press F2, or Ctrl+1, to open the Product Information window. On a Mac, press Command+1.
- 3Read the product name, version year and release number at the top of the window.
- 4If you're thinking about a move to QuickBooks Online, note the Total Targets count in the same window. Intuit's migration needs it below 4,000,000.
- 5Compare your release with the latest one on Intuit's update page. When we checked in October 2026, it listed QuickBooks 2024 R21_65.
- 6To update, go to Help > Update QuickBooks Desktop, select Update Now, then Get Updates, and restart QuickBooks.
What to do before your version's date
- 1Back up the company file to an external drive or Intuit's online backup.
- 2If you subscribe to Desktop Plus or Desktop Enterprise, upgrade to 2024 or Enterprise 24.0. Intuit says the upgrade is included in your annual plan at no extra cost.
- 3Check Windows on every computer that runs QuickBooks. QuickBooks Desktop stopped supporting Windows 10 when Microsoft ended support on October 14, 2025.
- 4If a provider hosts your file, ask which Windows version their servers run and when they plan to upgrade.
- 5Turn on automatic updates: go to Help > Update QuickBooks Desktop, open the Options tab and select Yes.
- 6If you run Desktop Payroll, finish the upgrade before the first payroll after your version's date.
- 7Test each app that connects to your company file on the new version before your team relies on it.
Can you still buy QuickBooks Desktop?
Only Enterprise, for new customers in the US. Intuit stopped selling new subscriptions of Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, Mac Plus and Desktop Enhanced Payroll after September 30, 2024. Existing subscribers can keep renewing, and Intuit says it still provides security updates, product updates and support for them. QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise is not affected: new and existing customers can still buy or renew it online or by phone. The stop-sell applies to the US only.
For current Enterprise prices, see QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise pricing explained.
Where QuickBooks Desktop leaves the work to you
- Intuit announces dates by email, inside QuickBooks and on its policy pages. Someone on your team has to watch for them.
- Updates arrive as prompts. Unless automatic updates are on, someone has to accept each one.
- Windows, your server or your hosting provider must stay on supported versions. QuickBooks doesn't check that for you.
- A supported version keeps the file safe. It doesn't change how orders, payments and supplier confirmations get into it.
How Logistify helps
Logistify doesn't upgrade or support QuickBooks itself. It is a managed service that works with a supported QuickBooks Desktop file. The Sales Order Service enters customer orders into QuickBooks Desktop as sales orders, with a person reviewing exceptions. The Accounts Receivable Service matches payments in your bank file to open invoices and records them. The Procurement Service follows up with suppliers on open purchase orders.
