EDI Providers for Unleashed vs AI Order Entry: SPS Commerce, Crossfire, Cegedim, eZCom and ConnectPointz

Who should choose which

Use AI order entry, such as Logistify AI, for the customers who email PDFs and spreadsheets or send WhatsApp messages, and an EDI provider such as SPS Commerce, Crossfire or Cegedim when a large retailer requires EDI. The EDI provider handles the retailer connection, purchase orders, shipping notices and invoices in the retailer's format. Logistify also reads EDI orders and enters them in Unleashed, but it isn't a retail EDI network. Many wholesalers on Unleashed need both.

Do you need EDI or AI order entry?

It depends on who is sending the order. A large retailer that trades by EDI sends a structured purchase order and expects structured documents back: a shipping notice when goods leave, and an invoice in its format. That is what EDI providers do. They connect you to the retailer, map its documents to Unleashed, test with the retailer and watch the connection. Cegedim, for example, names EDIFACT, Tradacoms and X12.

Most wholesalers also have many smaller customers who will never send EDI. They email a PDF, attach their own spreadsheet, type the order in the email body or send a WhatsApp message. An EDI connection doesn't help with those orders, and EDI providers such as Crossfire and ConnectPointz price per connection. That long tail is where AI order entry fits.

What does each EDI provider say about Unleashed?

  • SPS Commerce: two case studies describe SPS Fulfillment working with Unleashed. Nutricare, in Victoria, Australia, says its U.S. orders are automatically downloaded into Unleashed; Bubs Australia used SPS to onboard more than 50 U.S. retailers. We didn't find a current SPS product page for Unleashed.
  • Crossfire: its plans page lists Unleashed among its prebuilt system connectors. Its Essentials plan (1 to 5 integrations) starts from $355 per integration a month plus $3,000 implementation, with the currency not stated. Crossfire says most new customers go live in 6 to 10 weeks.
  • Cegedim e-business: an Unleashed partner page for Netix Flow, with UK-based support. It sets up the connection with your Unleashed API credentials, maps your EDI documents to Unleashed fields, then sends test transactions to Unleashed before go-live.
  • eZCom: Lingo connects to the Unleashed account you already use and handles retailer EDI and online orders in one application, with UPS and FedEx labels built in.
  • ConnectPointz: a page for Unleashed EDI integration covering sales and shipping channels. It doesn't list documents on that page. Its pricing page publishes per-connector and per-order fees, but doesn't name Unleashed in its connector lists.

A note on Crossfire's Unleashed page

Crossfire's Unleashed page is titled "Unleashed EDI Integration", but its body is a template that still shows "[system name]" where the system's name should be. It says Crossfire imports customer or retailer orders "via EDI, API, CSV, or PDF", but because the page doesn't name Unleashed in its body, we rely on Crossfire's plans page instead: it lists Unleashed as a prebuilt connector and says the Crossfire Portal can convert PDFs into your system. Ask Crossfire how PDF orders reach Unleashed in your setup.

Where Logistify AI is stronger

  • Orders from customers who don't use EDI: email text, PDFs, their own Excel files, WhatsApp, SMS, voicemail and paper.
  • No per-customer connection to build: product matching uses your Unleashed catalog and each customer's past orders.
  • Quote requests become sales quotes in Unleashed.
  • The buyer gets a reply with the quantity available on each line and a date for any shortfall.
  • Orders it can't settle are held for a person, with the reason.

Where EDI providers are stronger

  • Retailer compliance: they connect you to retailers that require EDI, and Crossfire and Cegedim say they handle changes to a retailer's message format.
  • Documents in both directions: purchase orders in, and shipping notices and invoices back to the retailer.
  • Standards and protocols: EDIFACT, Tradacoms, X12, AS2, SFTP and others, depending on the provider.
  • Existing retailer connections: SPS and Crossfire both describe prebuilt connections to retailers and other trading partners.

Using both

Keep your EDI provider for the retailers that require EDI, and use Logistify for the email, PDF, spreadsheet and message orders from everyone else. Logistify also reads EDI orders and enters them in Unleashed, but it isn't a retail EDI network, so keep your provider for retailer onboarding, shipping notices and invoices. If you are comparing AI tools for those other orders, see AI order entry tools for Unleashed. If some customers already send files in Unleashed's own layout, see Unleashed CSV import vs AI order entry.

What Logistify does and doesn't do

Logistify works alongside Unleashed; it isn't an inventory system or an EDI network. The Sales Order Service enters orders as sales orders and quote requests as sales quotes, using the buyer's price when the order states one and otherwise the customer's sell price tier. The Procurement Service follows up with suppliers on open Unleashed purchase orders. The Accounts Receivable Service matches payments from your bank file to open invoices and records them in Xero or QuickBooks Online, whichever you use. It doesn't choose a warehouse for an order. Logistify operates in every region where Unleashed is sold.

How to try Logistify

  1. 1Forward a week of real orders, including the messy ones: Excel files, PDFs and orders typed in emails.
  2. 2Logistify sets up product matching from your Unleashed catalog and each customer's past orders.
  3. 3Run the 30-day pilot ($1,000, one workflow, up to 150 completed tasks) while your team keeps its current process, and compare the sales orders side by side.
  4. 4Keep going on Core or Business if it works. There is no setup fee, and the full $1,000 is credited toward an annual Core or Business contract signed within 14 days of the pilot ending.

Who should choose which

  • Most of your orders arrive by email, PDF, spreadsheet or message from customers who will never use EDI: Logistify AI, alongside your EDI provider if you have one.
  • A large retailer requires EDI and you want a full-service provider with many retail connections: SPS Commerce or Crossfire.
  • You sell to UK retailers that use Tradacoms or EDIFACT and want UK-based support: Cegedim e-business.
  • You want retailer EDI and online orders handled in one application: eZCom Lingo.
