Short answer
To move a QuickBooks Desktop file to Intuit Enterprise Suite, sign your IES contract and update each file to Desktop 2023 (Release 17 or higher) or 2024 (Release 16 or higher). Open the file, select Intuit Enterprise Suite > Initiate upgrade process, sign in, and map it to a parent or child entity. Work through the cleanup checklist, then select Send to Intuit. Intuit's experts move the data and email you, normally within 2–5 days.
Before you start
- You've signed your Intuit Enterprise Suite contract. Intuit's steps start after signing, and the tool finds your contract when you sign in.
- Each company file is on a supported release of QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier or Enterprise: 2023 (Release 17 or higher) or 2024 (Release 16 or higher).
- You have the Intuit account you'll sign in with.
- If your file is in a hosted environment, Intuit's video says to create a local backup on your computer first, then restore it to an active file on your desktop.
- You know which Desktop file becomes the parent entity and which become child entities. You can prepare several files, or start with one to test the suite.
Intuit's tool backs up your company file before it changes anything. Keep your own copy too: see how to export your QuickBooks Desktop data to Excel, and our migration readiness audit for what to check first.
Step 1: Launch the tool and map your entities
- 1Open your company file in QuickBooks Desktop.
- 2From the top menu, select Intuit Enterprise Suite, then select Initiate upgrade process.
- 3Sign in with your Intuit account when prompted.
- 4The tool finds your Intuit Enterprise Suite contract. Match each Desktop company file to the correct parent or child entity.
- 5When the mapping is correct, select Let's Begin to prepare your data.
Step 2: Work through the cleanup checklist
- 1Review the checklist. The tool analyzes your company file and lists the data you need to review.
- 2For batch-actionable tasks, select Complete All to resolve most of them at once, or fix them one at a time.
- 3Handle hygiene tasks, and tasks that need missing information, one by one. Each hygiene task takes you to the right place in Desktop.
- 4Review each task and its related data before you continue. In Intuit's video, you then review preferences.
Step 3: Send the file to Intuit
- 1If you have payroll, choose whether to move it. Intuit's video shows this choice.
- 2Select Next, review the terms and conditions, and select Send to Intuit.
- 3Optionally, invite Intuit's Professional Services team to help: add your Intuit account manager's and customer success manager's email addresses and select Submit.
- 4To move another company file, switch to it and repeat Steps 1 to 3.
Step 4: Check your data in Intuit Enterprise Suite
- 1Wait for Intuit's email. It normally arrives within 2–5 days of a successful upgrade.
- 2Once you have the email, sign in to Intuit Enterprise Suite.
- 3Check your unit groups and preferred units. Intuit says units of measure carry over, and asks you to confirm they came across the way you expect.
- 4Check your manufacturing orders. Pending Desktop builds should appear as Planned manufacturing orders, and completed builds as Completed orders with a linked Build assembly transaction.
What Intuit says comes across
Intuit's article on the move doesn't list what data comes across, or any data limits. These are the only specific items we found in Intuit's other sources:
| Data | What Intuit says | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| Units of measure | Carry over. You don't need to rebuild them. | Units of measure in Intuit Enterprise Suite, updated 24 August 2026 |
| Assemblies, bills of materials and build assembly transactions | Included. Pending builds become Planned manufacturing orders. Completed builds become Completed orders with a linked Build assembly transaction. | Get started with manufacturing orders and assemblies, updated 3 August 2026 |
| Multi-level bills of materials with subassemblies | The help article says they aren't supported in Intuit Enterprise Suite. The release notes list multi-level bills of materials and assemblies as included. | Help article, updated 3 August 2026; Fall 2026 release notes, 26 October 2026 |
| Inventory history | New in Fall 2026: inventory history migration moves your complete inventory history, balances and settings, with no date cutoff. No help article covers it yet. | Fall 2026 release notes, 26 October 2026 |
| Payroll | You choose whether to move it. | Video in the move article, updated 5 August 2026 |

If something doesn't look right
- A cleanup fix went wrong: the tool backed up your company file before making changes, and you can restore that backup at any time.
- Your file is hosted: create a local backup on your computer and restore it to an active file before you start, as Intuit's video shows.
- You have more than one company file: after sending the first, choose the next file and repeat the same steps.
- Some tasks don't clear with Complete All: tasks that need missing information, and hygiene tasks, have to be done one at a time.
- Units look wrong after the move: units of measure carry over, but Intuit asks you to review your unit groups and preferred units.
Where Intuit Enterprise Suite leaves the work to you
- Intuit's article doesn't list what data moves or any limits, so check with Intuit before you commit.
- The article doesn't say what happens to transactions entered in Desktop after you send the file. Agree on a cutover date with Intuit.
- Hygiene tasks are fixed by hand, one at a time, in Desktop.
- Intuit's sources disagree on multi-level bills of materials. If you use subassemblies, get a clear answer from Intuit before you move.
- After the move, your team checks units of measure and manufacturing orders against Desktop.
How Logistify helps
Logistify doesn't migrate company files. It's a managed service that works with QuickBooks Desktop and with Intuit Enterprise Suite, so the same service keeps entering orders before and after the move. The Sales Order Service enters customer orders as sales orders, whether they arrive by email, PDF, Excel (including .xls), EDI, WhatsApp, SMS, voicemail or paper, and a person reviews exceptions. Before you move, compare QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise vs Intuit Enterprise Suite.
